Chinese State Councilor Yang Jiechi and Secretary of the Russian Security Council Nikolai Patrushev agreed that Chinese President Xi Jinping's visit to Russia in March has "injected new impulse and unveiled new vision" to the strategic partnership between the two countries.
China and Russia should strengthen their contact, coordination and pragmatic cooperation, fulfill consensus reached by leaders of the two countries so as to push forward the development of bilateral ties, said the two officials.
The two parties agreed to further foster the mechanism of strategic security consultations to give it a bigger role in pushing forward bilateral ties.
Under the complex and profoundly-changing international situation, China and Russia need to assure their mutual respect and trust, support each other on safeguarding national sovereignty, security and stability as well as development interest, the two officials said.
They also called for joint efforts to realize their national rejuvenation.
The two sides committed themselves to intensified coordination on international affairs, safeguarding the purpose and principles of the UN Charters and the norms of international relations, pushing for peaceful resolutions on hotspot issues and promoting global and regional peace, stability and development.
China and Russia would make joint efforts to ensure a successful summit of the Group of Twenty (G20) scheduled for September in the Russian city of St. Petersburg and a summit of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) to be held in Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan, said the two officials.
