Strong winds as a result of Narelle tropical cyclone may hit Indonesia and the National Disaster Mitigation Agency (BNPB) has called on the people to take measures to protection from possible damages and losses.
There is a possibility that strong winds will hit Indonesia and "people should try to be far away from trees, billboards and old buildings," said Sutopo Purwo Nugroho, a spokesman for the BNPB, quoted by the Antara news agency Friday.
Sutopo said strong winds may occur in two days ahead, because of the impact of tropical cyclone Narelle has hit the Indian Ocean for several days.
He said although the Indian Ocean is far away from Indonesia, the impact of the cyclone will be potentially felt in the country.
The cyclone may also cause heavy downpours, floods, landslides, whirlwinds and high tides in many places of Indonesia, he said. Endi
