Iceland Prime Minister Johanna Sigurdardottir will pay an official visit to China on April 13-18 at the invitation of Chinese Premier Li Keqiang.
The following is a brief introduction of the prime minister of Iceland.
Born in Reykjavik in 1942, Johanna Sigurdardottir was a graduate of the Commercial College of Iceland.
She was first elected to the Althing (Iceland's parliament) in 1978 and served as deputy speaker of the parliament in 1979. She later became vice chairman of the Social Democratic Party and served as minister of social affairs in four separate Cabinets.
In January 2009, she became prime minister of Iceland's interim government. And she continued her premiership when the new government was inaugurated in May the same year after parliamentary elections. Endi
