The future of the bilateral collaboration in the energy sector was on top of the agenda of discussions between Greek state officials and visiting Israeli Foreign Minister Avigdor Lieberman on Thursday.
Amid recent discoveries of significant natural gas reserves in the Eastern Mediterranean Sea, Greek officials called for the transportation of these reserves via Cyprus and Greece to Europe.
"It would be the most beneficial option for all sides," Greek President Karolos Papoulias said, welcoming the Israeli official.
"We are waiting for the results of the feasibility study and then we will conduct the talks with sincerity and transparency," Lieberman told the press after a meeting with Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Affairs Minister Evangelos Venizelos.
The Israeli official also praised Greece's stern position regarding racism and anti-Semitic behavior. Endi
