Tunisian police arrested on Wednesday General Khouildi Hamidi, one of Muammar Gaddafi's closest aides, local radio Mosaique FM reported on Thursday.
The Libyan official was attempting to flee out of the country along with his family, when he was apprehended at the Tunis' Carthage airport.
He was inquired by the attorney general on Thursday and was indicted on the charge of entering the country illegally, the report said.
Khouildi Hamidi was one of the officers who helped Gaddafi take power in his 1969 coup.
