Night Fence
Dong Yunxia, the artist of Night Fence explains the meaning of this art work:"When I walk into the village, the fragrance of soil and plants comes to me. I hear the fence whispering to me. This represents the beauty of the village. I wish that this painting might inspire people to love nature, embrace country life, and long for a beautiful future."
It is a mineral colour painting, this differs other painting styles. Materials including leather, natural minerals, mica, and gold foil were all used in creating this art work. Painting skills; including Chinese traditional frescoes and Japanese painting were incorporated into Night Fence, which makes the whole painting more rich and expressive.
Dong Yunxia is a professor at the Harbin Educational Research Institute in Heilongjiang Province. He is also a director of the mineral rock painting committee of Heilongjiang Province.
These four art works all carry different meanings. Rebirth uses graphic design in film, to represent the mental healing process. Ciao Fa, Come Stai raises questions about culture shock as well as questions about the direction of life. Emptiness tries to explain the Buddhist philosophy of emptiness, while Night Fence stresses the beauty of nature. Each of them, to some extent, reflects a different journey in life and offers interpretations about life and art as well as Western and Eastern cultural backgrounds. These four artworks embraced the theme of this exhibition: the wonders of the beauty of art are boundless.
