Chinese equities declined in Wednesday morning session on falls of coal, non-ferrous shares, sending the benchmark Shanghai Composite Index on the brink of the 2,400-point mark to close at 2,403.48, down 0.97 percent.
The Shenzhen Component Index slid 1.12 percent to close at 9,402.49.
Shenhua Group Corporation Limited, China's leading company on coal production and sales, dropped 0.63 percent to 21.99 yuan at the morning close while China National Coal Group Corp, the country's second largest coal producer, fell 1.73 percent to 8.51 yuan per share.
Zijin Mining Group, China's largest gold producer, declined 3.8 percent to 6.06 yuan at the morning close.
