Research company J.D. Power predicts that China's auto sales will surge 30 percent to 18 million units this year, but the growth will slow down to 10 percent in 2011.
The estimate is the most pessimistic among the recent predictions of China's 2011 auto market.
"China's auto market will keep growing at a high rate over the next five to ten years, despite a slight fluctuation during each year," said Ding Lei, general manager of Shanghai GM Motor Co., who offered a different view. "I think there will be 20-percent growth next year."
J.D. Power stated that a government stimulus withdrawal combined with additional factors will lead to a slowdown in the 2011 market.
