Li Changchun, a senior official of the Communist Party of China (CPC), arrived in Maputo on Thursday evening for an official goodwill visit to Mozambique.
Li, a member of the Standing Committee of the CPC Central Committee Political Bureau, said in a statement issued upon his arrival that his visit aims to further strengthen China-Mozambique political trust, expand consensus and consolidate country-to- country and party-to-party ties in the new era.
He said both sides are developing countries. To further enhance bilateral friendship meets the fundamental interests of both countries and peoples, and is of vital importance to boosting the growth of new China-Africa strategic partnership as well as the solidarity among developing countries.
"I hope to meet with leaders of the Mozambique Liberation Front Party and make friends from various circles during my visit, to seek brighter future for our friendly relations," he added.
Li is making the visit at the invitation of the Mozambique Liberation Front Party.
Mozambique is the last leg of Li's five-nation tour which also took him to Armenia, Romania, Slovenia and Kenya.
