The People's Daily, the flagship newspaper of the Communist Party of China (CPC), will publish an editorial Tuesday that hails the successful conclusion of an annual session of the 11th National People's Congress (NPC), China's top legislature.
The NPC, or China's parliament, concluded its annual session on Monday by endorsing the country's 12th Five-Year Plan (2011-2015) for National Economic and Social Development and the government work report, which was delivered by Premier Wen Jiabao.
Nearly 3,000 deputies from across the country attended the annual session that was held from March 5 to 14.
During the session, Wu Bangguo, chairman of the 11th NPC Standing Committee, also announced establishment on schedule of a socialist system of laws with Chinese characteristics in China, the editorial said.
While hailing the achievements made by the NPC Standing Committee last year, the editorial called for intensified efforts from the NPC in terms of legislation and supervision work, so as to contribute to the country's reform efforts, development and stability.
The achievements made in the 11th Five-Year-Plan period (2006-2010) and the positive prospects for the 12th Five-Year development program have shown the advantages of China's socialist system which includes the NPC, as well as the vitality of the political path in developing socialism with Chinese characteristics, the editorial said.
