At least 22 people were wounded and more than 200 buildings suffered from light damage as a powerful quake rocked Aceh province of Indonesia on Wednesday, provincial Disaster Management Agency reported.
The quake struck at 5:15 a.m. Jakarta time Wednesday (2215 GMT Tuesday) with epicenter at 75 km southeast of Sinabang in the province and at a depth of 34 km under sea bed.
Six of the wounded persons in Simeuleu island, the nearest area with the quake epicenter, got serious injury and had been treated at hospital, official of the agency Zahratul Aina told Xinhua over phone.
Most of the victims were hit by falling bricks during the quake, she said.
The 7.2 magnitude quake seriously damaged 10 houses and offices building in the island, Aina said.
The quake collapsed one house in the island and over 220 houses and office building in Simeuleu and Singkil regency suffered from light damage, the official said.
