One day after receiving an attractive offer from Australia's soccer club the Melborne Heart FC, Corinthians star striker revealed on Sunday that the only way to keep him from retiring at the end of the year will be if his team qualifies for the 2011 Libertadores Cup.
The continental title is one that the striker has yearned to win.
"I will probably retire at the end of the year. However, if we are able to win the Brazilian Championship and qualify for the Libertadores Cup, I may stick around until the end of the tournament, maybe until July 2011. I am still not sure. I am tired. My body is tired," said Ronaldo.
Ronaldo added that he plans on being directly involved with the sport after his retirement. He expressed his desire to become a player's consultant, aiding many of the talented athletes who are poorly represented in Brazil.
Ronaldo had the opportunity to purchase the rights of the 18-year-old striker for Santos, Neymar, earlier last year. He lamented not having bought them and said that today the price for the player has sky-rocketed, totaling an estimated 45 million euros.
