Shenzhen is a major city in Southern China's Guangdong Province, situated immediately north of Hong Kong, on the eastern shore of the Pearl River Delta. Once a small fishing village, Shenzhen's bustling cityscape is the result of vibrant foreign investment and its status as a Special Economic Zone since the late 1970s.
Now one of the fastest growing cities in the world, Shenzhen has become a model city for China's economic growth and modernization. It is also the third busiest container port in China, ranking only after Shanghai and Hong Kong.
