After graduated from China Foreign Affairs University in 1985, Li Yifei went to America for further study and eventually obtained a master's degree from Baylor University. After receiving her master's Li moved to New York to work for the UN, where she worked in the public information department prior to producing and hosting the program called "UN Calls for Asia."
In 1993, Li returned to China and became general manager of Burson-Marsteller China the following year. In 1999, she moved to Viacom China and served as managing director of MTV Networks, Greater China. From August 2009, Li has been the managing director of GLG China of GLG Partners.
