Hurricane Camille is one of three catastrophic Category 5 hurricanes to make landfall in the United States in the 20th century, along with 1935's Labor Day hurricane and 1992's Hurricane Andrew. When it reached the Gulf of Mexico and made landfall, its unrelenting winds were estimated to be at least 190 mph (305 km/h).
