Epson Robots is the robotics design and manufacturing division of Japanese corporation Seiko Epson, one of the world’s largest makers of computer printers and image related devices.
The company has over 45,000 robots installed worldwide. Originally creating robots for use in its watch-making plants, the company has gone on to develop a lineup of high-precision, high-speed, and compact robots.
The net sales of the Sensing and Industrial Solutions business segment – where their robotics business is a part-- reached16,181 million yen (about US$136 million) during the 2014 fiscal year, according to the company’s annual financial report.
