A powerful explosion shocked a market in Khost province east of Afghanistan Wednesday, injuring eight persons, a senior police officer said.
"The blast occurred this morning in a cellular phone shop in Khost city, capital of Khost province, wounding eight persons, all of whom civilians," Guldad, head of Crime Investigation Department of the provincial police, told Xinhua.
Guldad, who uses one name like many Afghan people, blamed the attack on the enemies of peace, a term used against Taliban militants, adding that the militants by carrying out such attacks want to destabilize the province.
No one has claimed responsibility for the incident so far and Taliban has not made comment.
