As the second largest consumer group of luxury products in the world, more and more Chinese are indulging in high-end fashion. An increasing number of world-famous luxury brands are settling in, heating up competition between them and domestic Chinese brands.
Forbes China released the "25 Influential Chinese in Global Fashion 2011" on June 26, 2011. Beyond famous designers and apparel tycoons, the list adds senior executives at multinational fashion companies and entrepreneurs who expanded their businesses by using the capital market. Fashion industries represented on the list include apparel, watch, carpet and jewelry.
Fan Luxian, director of Forbes Shanghai Branch said that the reason for the attention to those specific industries is that more and more domestic brands are going out to the international market and are accepted by foreign consumers.
